We are so grateful for the overwhelming support we receive from the Friends of JR Whippet Rescue which helps us to rescue and rehome an increasing number of whippets in need.
Last year we rehomed 119 individual whippets, a considerable increase on previous years. 2025 has already started off with a bang and it looks like we will beat all records again. This comes at a considerable expense and our direct rehoming costs come out at over £1200 per dog which does not take account of all the other overheads that a charity like ours has to bear. We don’t need to tell you how expensive vets’ fees can be!
Each rehoming comes with an adoption fee which is a helpful contribution to our expenses but to cover them completely we are heavily reliant on our amazing supporters.

Monetary Donations
Of course this is a major one and we appreciate all the contributions that we get. They can be made in several ways including from our website, direct to our bank account (please ask for bank details) or by cheque. If you can Gift Aid your donation all the better as this means that we can claim back another 25p for every £1 we receive at absolutely no extra cost to you.
Fund Raising
We have some amazing supporters who have raised funds for us recently such as Isobel Bain who ran the New York Marathon, and Justine Bromage who organises whippet get togethers. Some companies have also donated a percentage of their sales to us – please keep an eye on our Facebook page to see what is on offer.
If you are going to start a fundraising or crowdfunding campaign, we would recommend that you use Just Giving and link it to JR Whippet Rescue. This will mean that the gift aid is sorted, and we are guaranteed to receive all the proceeds. Donations can also be made directly from PayPal, Facebook, Instagram, Just Giving and the Charitable Aid Foundation – we may not be able to see who the funds are from if you do it directly from them rather than via our website due to Data Protection but please be assured that we are very grateful.
Whippet Merchandise
We sell a range of beautiful whippet related goods – details with our newsletters, on our website and at a range of shows.
Donating Goods
If you have any good quality surplus whippet equipment or memorabilia, we would be please to receive them so that we can sell them to raise funds.
Used Stamps
Collect used stamps, cut them from the envelope and leave a margin around them, and send them to Meridian Stamps, making sure that you mention they are for JR Whippet Rescue. Separate UK and foreign stamps.
Give as Live
We get a free donation when you sign up and will keep receiving donations when you shop at thousands of different retailers, either online or instore. For example, once you have registered, when you go to a supporting website you will be asked if you want a percentage of your purchase to be donated to JR Whippet Rescue, at no extra cost. Bequests
Sad to say, we would not be able to function as well as we do without the incredibly generous bequests of both money and goods that we receive. If you would like to remember JRWR in your will or in instructions to whoever will be dealing with your estate, please remember to quote our Charity Commission number which is 326479. Of course, remember that you can also make a request for your whippets to be taken care of by JR Whippet Rescue after your death.
