Foster Carers Needed

We are in need of more dedicated foster carers to help with the Whippets coming into our care.

We make no secret of the fact that most of the Whippets who come to us arrive with some form of behavioural difficulty and need additional support. The challenges we see most frequently are lead reactivity and separation anxiety.

Foster carers are invaluable to the work we do, and we are incredibly grateful to the wonderful people nationwide who already support us.

At the moment, we are particularly in need of PET-FREE and CHILD-FREE foster homes for some of the more complex cases we see. We know this is a big ask, but we also know that these homes are out there, as we are fortunate to already have a few fantastic foster carers who meet these requirements.

Please see the poster below for more information and our foster application here:

Foster Carers Needed - poster asking for foster carers. Information is in the body of this post.

We completely understand that many of you will already have other dogs or children. Unfortunately, a busy household simply isn’t suitable for many of the Whippets currently needing our help.

Foster carers also need to be prepared for all eventualities when welcoming a Whippet into their home. We will always pass on as much information as we can, but occasionally behaviours that we haven’t been made aware of may surface once the Whippet begins to settle. Foster carers must be prepared to put in the time and work needed to help their foster Whippet thrive and prepare for their forever home.

As well as guidance from us, foster carers will also have access to behavioural support from Becca at Behaviour by Becca.

If any significant behavioural concerns arise, or the Whippet genuinely isn’t suited to or settling in the foster home, we will of course arrange for them to return to our care as soon as possible.

Please note that we are not currently able to accept foster homes with cats, young children or without a secure garden.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.💙
