Social Media / Education

This year, we want to start using our social media platform to help educate whippet owners and anyone considering welcoming a whippet to their home.

Whippet Standing Outside On Moor

2026 has started busier than ever for us, we have already had a number of whippets surrendered into our care and we receive more calls for help most days.

It is no secret that severe reactivity and separation anxiety are two of the biggest things we see through rescue, and we really can’t stress enough how important it is to ensure you socialise your whippet puppy properly and also ensure you do separation training from the start to avoid serious issues in the future.

Sometimes reactivity and separation anxiety can start later in life due to a traumatic event (being attacked by another dog or disruption to their normal routine, for example) but more often it is due to a complete lack of socialisation and training during a crucial time in their puppyhood.

There are some amazing articles on the The UK Whippet Breed Council website and we have linked some at the bottom of this post for you to read through.

As always, we have a high number of whippets in our care who need understanding homes that can help support them through reactivity and/or separation anxiety training. We are more than happy to help financially with training, but we are desperate for adopters who are able and willing to put the time and effort in with actually carrying out the correct training.

We receive thousands of adoption applications each year, but sadly very few of those are able / willing to deal with the issues that often surround taking on a rescue dog. It is quite soul destroying for us as we know that every single whippet in our care has the potential to be the most amazing pet and lifelong companion, they just need the support and love of an understanding human.

If you are the owner of a Whippet or you are considering a Whippet, please read through the articles linked below from the UK Whippet Breed Council.

If you think you can offer a loving and supportive home to a rescue whippet, please fill in our adoption application here and a member of our team will be in touch.
