Foster carers are an invaluable part of our JRWR team. I’m sure you know that most Whippets don’t do well in kennels, and with so many Whippets needing our help it’s important that we have experienced and safe foster carers/homes to help us while we find them their perfect forever homes.
Many of the Whippets coming into our care need extra support (some of these reasons are listed in the form below) and we need our foster carers to be able to assess each dog accordingly and report back to us so we can be sure we match them to the most suitable new home. Fosters carers must have a fully secure garden, and they need to be able to transport the Whippets safely and legally in their own vehicle to vet checks etc if required. Foster placements generally last between 2 and 12 weeks depending on each individual case and we do sometimes require ‘lifetime’ fosters for Whippets with more complex needs or Whippets needing end of life care. We fund all costs for the Whippet while they are in foster care, but this will be discussed in full with successful applicants.
