Due to the number of Whippets we currently have in our care, we are unable to accept rehoming applications for Lurchers.
We know that needing to rehome your much-loved Whippet can be extremely difficult and we understand how upsetting this must be for you.
We have been helping Whippets in need of rehoming for over 50 years and pride ourselves on responsible rehoming. All potential homes are home checked by experienced Whippet owners before adoptions take place and we are here for the lifetime support and back up of all the Whippets that come through our care.
We work with a dedicated and experienced team of foster carers/homes, so the Whippets are safe and loved while they wait for their perfect forever home. We can occasionally do direct rehomes, this is where the Whippet goes from their current home directly to the new home rather than via a foster home. The way we do things depends on each individual situation. Please note that due to GDPR it is rarely possible for new and previous owners to be in contact with each other. We can however let you know about any potential homes and keep in touch with you to send you updates / photos and let you know how they have settled into their new home.

When surrendering a dog to JR Whippet Rescue, you will be asked to sign a transfer of ownership document, and the owner relinquishes all rights and claims to the animal. JR Whippet Rescue assumes full legal ownership and responsibility for the dog upon surrender.
