The Blues Brothers

The Blues Brothers - Two blue whippets, curled up together asleep in a dog bed

UPDATE – REHOMED

These lovely boys have now been settled in a wonderful home.

The Blues Brothers are 10 ½ year old brothers. They haven’t had the best of lives so far and are looking for a very special home. They have been together since birth and are very dependent on each other. They have had very little if any exercise , they had no muscle when they came into the care of J R Whippet Rescue. They have never been socialised with other dogs, in the house they are fine, when they arrived there were already 4 whippets and a greyhound in the house and there has never been a wrong word between them. Sadly they are not good with other dogs outside the home, time may help, but they will never be the easiest dogs to walk.

Now for the good bits….. They are the most wonderful and loving boys in the home, they adore attention and do the best cuddles ever. They are spotlessly clean and can quite happily be left for up to three or four hours. They greet all visitors with waggy tails and are an absolute delight to have.

Their ideal home is relatively quiet, they have met children and have been fine with them, but they are in their twilight years and enjoy peace and quiet. They would be happy with a garden to have a little run in and of course, sunbathe when we get any sun. Their biggest requirements are love and warmth and comfort.

Can you offer these wonderful boys that very special home? Please contact us if you are interested in them, they are fostered in Lancashire, but we are more than happy to travel for the right home.

Both have been neutered, vaccinated & micro chipped.

  1. Hello, I wonder if we can help. We have 3 whippet girls, 2 half sisters and their aunt who are almost 10 and aunt is 11. All have been spayed. We have had these since puppies. We have no children and I am retired, gardening now and riding a little so still quite active but based mainly in the home. We have a spacious home, large south facing secure garden and our own field that has been fenced to prevent whippet escapes! Our dogs are a real part of our family and we have plenty of room in front of the Aga! If you think this rehoming option might work please contact me to discuss further. Email jo.cotterell@purtek.co.uk. Thank you.

      • Hi Naomi, the rescue is a foster network so carers are spread out geographically. If you’re interested in fostering I would recommend either emailing rehoming@whippetrescue.org.uk or call 01359 259300. There is also an adoption application form link in the menu above and the ‘Get Involved’ page has a form you can download to fill in and let JRWR know how you can help, how many dogs you could foster etc. I’m just the website admin, so can only point you in the right direction.

        Best wishes,
        Sarah
